What is

HIFU-4D?

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is the next generation in advanced non-surgical facial rejuvenation, providing deep penetration, real lasting results with no damage to the skin surface! The closest technology available to a face-lift without surgery.

HIFU is intended for individuals with skin laxity, or anyone who is looking to achieve skin tightening. HIFU can renew mild to moderate sagging skin, as well as create lifting of the brow to aid in improving openness of heavy eyelids. Keep in mind, however, that HIFU is not an alternative to a traditional facelift, and therefore patients with a greater degree of skin laxity may be better suited towards a surgical face and/or neck lift.

In detail

HIFU is a non-surgical method to lift and tighten the skin of the face and neck using high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy. The ultrasound targets different depths of the skin, working to tighten the different skin layers to produce optimal results. Specifically, the HIFU targets the Super-facial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer. SMAS refers to the deep tissue layer below the dermis. The HIFU technology encourages the cells to produce new collagen, allowing the skin to increase firmness and elasticity. Collagen building takes time, therefore optimal results are seen anywhere from 2 months to 6 months post-treatment.

Q: What does HIFU feel like?
A: The treatment is felt minimally. Most patients describe the sensation during treatment as a slight vibration, tingling, or warmth.

Q: Are there any side effects?
A: The skin may feel slightly sensitive following your HIFU treatment, and may have a sensation similar to tingling or pulsating.

Q: How long does the treatment take?
A: The treatment takes roughly 90 minutes if treating full face and neck.

Q: Is there any downtime?
A: The great part about the HIFU treatment is that there is zero downtime! You may resume all normal activities following treatment.

Q: What areas can be treated?
A: The face and neck can be treated using HIFU. It is also great for body sculpting.

Q: How long does the treatment last?
A: The length of results truly depends on each patient as collagen degradation and the aging process affects everyone differently and at different rates. Most people will only need one or two treatments up-front, possibly followed by annual touch-up treatments to maintain results.

Q: Who is not a candidate?
A: The HIFU treatment is contraindicated in clients with active or open lesions in the treatment area, clients with pacemakers or defibrillators, or those with metallic implants in the treatment area. Furthermore, the treatment has not been evaluated in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
