Most LED light therapy sticks to one colour — usually red — and stops there. But your skin rarely has just one concern. Multi-wavelength light therapy uses several colours at once, each reaching a different depth and solving a different problem. Here's what each wavelength does, and why combining them beats any single colour alone.

What LED light therapy actually is
LED (light-emitting diode) therapy is non-invasive and painless: precise wavelengths of light are absorbed by your skin cells, where they trigger repair, calm inflammation and rebalance the skin. No needles, no downtime — just light doing the work at a cellular level, a process called photobiomodulation.
Why one colour is never enough
Each colour of light penetrates to a different depth and targets a different concern. Limit yourself to one and you only ever solve part of the picture. Combining wavelengths lets us treat several things in a single session — collagen and acne, redness and pigmentation — instead of choosing one.
The science of each colour
🔴 Red light (630–660 nm)
Boosts collagen and elastin, improves blood flow and reduces inflammation — ideal for anti-aging, firmness and recovery.
🔵 Blue light (405–470 nm)
Destroys acne-causing bacteria, balances oil and calms breakouts — the go-to for acne-prone skin.
🟡 Yellow light (580–600 nm)
Energises cells, reduces redness and puffiness and brightens tired skin — for a fresh, restored glow.
🟢 Green light (520–550 nm)
Calms irritation and fades pigmentation and dark spots, evening out skin tone.
Together these wavelengths work like a spectrum — repairing, renewing and rebalancing skin at every level, not just the surface.
Multi-wavelength light therapy at Light Angel, Amsterdam
